Picking up where Beautiful Bastard left off, Chloe Mills and Bennett Ryan continue their steamy, combative relationship in this new novella.
Just when Chloe’s career starts to take off, Bennett wishes it would all slow down long enough to spend a wild night alone with his girlfriend. But after he refuses to take no for an answer, Chloe and Bennett find themselves with two plane tickets, one French Villa, and a surprising conversation that, predictably, leaves them wrestling under the covers.
I’ve loved the Beautiful series up to this point. In this volume I found I grew tired of the multiple, lengthy flashbacks. I’m also gaining a strong annoyance at authors who include foreign phrases and full blown sentences without a translation. If they’re too lazy to interpret for their audience then they should assume their audience will be equally lazy in not looking up said translation. Thus, whatever seemed important enough to write in French and include in the story was wasted on this reader.
And last, I assumed by the title that Chloe would be an all out bitch in the story. She had her moments, but not enough to warrant a book named as such.
The sum of the story: argue > sex > flashback > rinse > repeat. Near the end I was skimming. Sigh……
Sorry ladies. I love your writing and look forward to the next 2 books, but this one fell flat. – Amazon Review
